URBAN OIL is een serie olieverfschilderijen die ik in juni 2024 ben gestart. Het concept is om eigentijdse urbane en suburbane thema’s weer te geven in de traditionele 17e-eeuwse Hollandse nat-in-nat-schildertechniek, met een magisch-realistisch accent. Het IJ in Amsterdam is altijd een grote inspiratiebron geweest. Daarnaast heeft het magische me altijd aangetrokken. Wanneer je ergens naar kijkt, is er altijd een mentaal-emotionele interactie tussen wat je waarneemt, je omgeving, en wat er in je hoofd gaande is aan focus, gedachten, gevoelens en spontane associaties. In die zin kun je nooit twee keer naar hetzelfde kijken en hetzelfde waarnemen (een derivaat van het rivier-fragment van Herakleitos).
English: URBAN OIL is a series of oil paintings that I began in June 2024. The concept is to depict contemporary urban and suburban themes using the traditional 17th-century Dutch wet-on-wet painting technique, with a magical-realistic accent. The IJ in Amsterdam has always been a major source of inspiration for me. Additionally, I have always been attracted to the magical. When you look at something, there is always a mental-emotional interaction between what you perceive, your surroundings, and what is going on in your mind in terms of focus, thoughts, feelings, and spontaneous associations. In that sense, you can never look at the same thing twice and perceive it in the same way (a derivative of Heraclitus’ river fragment).

El concepto es representar temas contemporáneos urbanos y suburbanos utilizando la técnica tradicional de pintura húmeda sobre húmeda del siglo XVII, con un acento mágico-realista. El IJ en Ámsterdam siempre ha sido una gran fuente de inspiración para mí. Además, siempre me ha atraído lo mágico. Cuando miras algo, siempre hay una interacción mental-emocional entre lo que percibes, tu entorno y lo que está ocurriendo en tu mente en términos de enfoque, pensamientos, sentimientos y asociaciones espontáneas. En ese sentido, nunca puedes mirar lo mismo dos veces y percibirlo de la misma manera (un derivado del fragmento del río de Heráclito).
